About Keith Fentress
From a six-year-old walking an aisle in Shreveport, Louisiana, to a daily voice for the Gospel reaching believers across the country — this is the story of one man's unshakeable call.
The Foundation
Keith Fentress was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, in a home where faith was not a Sunday ritual — it was the foundation of everything. His family was deeply rooted in the local church, and his mother, Dr. Jeanie Fentress, has been in full-time ministry for decades and is still actively serving at 81 years old. Keith grew up watching what a life fully surrendered to God actually looks like.
At just six years old, during a week of children's services led by Pastors Bob and Wanda Moon at Life Tabernacle in Shreveport, Keith walked the aisle and gave his life to Christ. It was 1973. He has been a professing Christian ever since — not because life has always been easy, but because the One he met that night has never let him go.
In 1998, Keith made the move to Michigan, where he has built his life, his career, and his ministry over the past 28 years. Though he left full-time pastoral ministry to enter the IT industry, the call on his life never went quiet. If anything, working in the secular world only amplified his desire to share the Gospel — because every day in a boardroom or on a job site became another opportunity to be a witness without ever having to preach a sermon.
"I don't really have to preach," Keith says. "I just have to be my normal, positive, encouraging self — and that usually leads to a discussion about Faith."
The Defining Moment
Keith was a sophomore in high school — feeling defeated, unseen, and quietly convinced that God couldn't use someone like him. He was too young. He didn't know how to speak. He didn't know how to make a difference. He sat at the family dinner table one evening not even wanting to share what was on his heart.
His mother simply said: "Open your Bible."
He opened it. It fell to Jeremiah 1. His mother smiled and asked him to read it out loud. By the time he reached verses 4 through 10, every excuse he had just spoken aloud was being answered — word for word — by the living God through Scripture.
Jeremiah 1:4–10 · ESV
"Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.' Then I said, 'Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.' But the Lord said to me, 'Do not say, I am only a youth; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.' Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, 'Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.'"
It hit him like a ton of bricks. Every word he had spoken in defeat minutes earlier — I'm too young, I don't know how to speak, I don't know how to make a difference — was right there on the page, being answered by God Himself. Keith knew in that moment, with absolute certainty, that God had called him to be a voice.
He has been answering that call ever since.
The Journey
Gave His Life to Christ
At six years old, during a children's revival at Life Tabernacle in Shreveport, Louisiana, Keith walked the aisle and committed his life to Jesus Christ. A decision that has defined every chapter since.
The Jeremiah Moment & The Shadow Years
Following his defining call at the dinner table, Keith committed himself fully to his church and youth group — becoming his Youth Pastor's shadow. He wanted to learn everything he could about ministry and serving people.
Ordained — Bible School Graduate
After completing Bible School, Keith was ordained and stepped into full-time ministry in West Texas — serving as Associate Pastor, Youth Pastor, and Worship Pastor.
Full-Time Ministry in West Texas
Five years of pastoral ministry shaped Keith's preaching, teaching, and heart for people. He learned what it costs to serve — and what it means to be truly called to it.
Michigan & the IT Industry
Keith moved to Michigan and transitioned into the IT industry — without ever stepping away from the call. He has continued speaking, singing, and ministering through engagements ever since, proving that the workplace is one of the greatest mission fields in the world.
"Can I Get A Witness" — The Name Is Born
Watching ESPN analyst Stuart Scott on air, Keith heard a phrase that stopped him cold. He thought: that would be a great name for a podcast. The seed was planted. God had a plan for it.
Daily Voice for the Gospel
Today Keith produces two shows — the Can I Get A Witness devotional podcast and the KFM Daily Witness video — five days a week, 52 weeks a year. Recorded on weekends, released every morning. Rooted in Scripture. Built to encourage.
Shaped By Giants
Pastor Nolan Logan
Pastor · Baptized & Ordained Keith
One of the most formative men in Keith's life. Pastor Logan saw something in Keith when others didn't — and he gave him a chance when no one else would. He believed in Keith and in the gift God had placed in him, opening the door for Keith to step into the role of Worship Leader. That opportunity lit a fire that has never gone out. His example of being a true man of God and a diligent student of the Word set the standard for what faithful ministry looks like.
Pastor Steve Munds
Youth Pastor · Mentor
The Youth Pastor who took Keith under his wing and never let go. Pastor Munds championed Keith's passion to use his singing voice as a tool for ministry — supporting the gift before Keith fully understood it himself. The one-on-one time they shared was one of the most valuable seasons of Keith's life, keeping him focused on his calling and his deep desire to lead people to Christ.
Dr. Jeanie Fentress
Mother · Full-Time Minister · Hero
Still in full-time ministry at 81 years old. Keith calls her his hero — one of the finest teachers of the Word he has ever known. From her, he learned what endurance, faithfulness, and a burning desire to share Truth look like over a lifetime.
Why This Ministry Exists
As Bob Dylan once sang, you gotta serve somebody. Keith has chosen to serve God — and to spend whatever platform he has been given encouraging others to do what Jesus commanded: go into all the world and make disciples. His content is built for the believer who is struggling, searching, or simply needing a daily reminder that God loves them — no matter what. The goal is never just a good podcast episode. The goal is always a person who goes to the Word for themselves, grows in their walk, and experiences the joy of a life in genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.
